Our Heritage and Our Future

Dear NCSY JSU TJJ NY Family,

We have had an amazing and meaningful time over the last few days in Jerusalem.  In the days leading up to the 9th of Av, a day of national tragedy in our calendar, we incorporated in our schedule a mixture of fun and meaningful activities that would allow the teens to enjoy and also have the opportunity to connect to our heritage. Included in these were a visit to the Holocaust Memorial at Yad Vashem, Mt. Herzl Military Cemetery,  the Southern Wall Excavations where the teens saw the remnants of the destruction of the second temple, and others.

Shabbat in Jerusalem was unique as we spent Friday night at the Kotel and we ate our first meal there.

Saturday night and Sunday programing was more somber and of a serious tone as to connect the teens to the tragedies of old and inspire the appropriate reactions for our future.
